John,

A very diverse collection. I'll try:

1: a porous, lightweight, siliceous sedimentary rock composed of the shells
of diatoms or radiolarians or of finely weathered chert, used as an abrasive
and a polish

and

16: a rack for twisting, stretching and drying sheep's intestines in the
traditional making of violin strings

Thanks,

Chuck

It's probably something ordinary like 4, but it ought to be
15, so I'll have those two, please.

Kiwiro

Please confirm that you are Rosemary Allen.

If you are then because I am working by names on headers then unless I manage to identify you then I end up with two different
players, one who submitted and one who voted.. I probably did remember correctly that I had seen tha email address before, but I'd
like to check

If I am right, you submitted a def with a header Rosemary Allen [Atoyholic at compuserve.com] and no signature
and you have just voted with a header Kiwiro [Atoyholic at compuserve.com] with the signature KiwiRo

1 is probably the real definition of some other word, and 12 is too
weird to be right...but I'll vote for them anyway.

I'll take 3 because it has a certain ring of reality to it and 10 because it
doesn't.
