Four additional defs came in during phase 2 for a total of 13, including
one from a real dictionary.

Please vote for two favorite ADUSTs, by public reply to this message,
before deadline, which is 7:00 PM EDT on Thursday, April 6, 2017, or 4:00
PM PDT .

1. 1. A judgment of the Inquisition in Spain and Portugal
condemning or acquitting persons accused of religious
offenses. 2. An execution of such sentence, by the civil
power, esp. the burning of a heretic. It was usually held
on Sunday, and was made a great public solemnity by
impressive forms and ceremonies. 3. Hence: [Fig.] The
public denunciation or punishment of a person who has
offended the prevailing authorities.
2. A cylinder of igneous rock that lifts overlying rock
when forced upward.
3. A hidden exit from a priest's hole (q.v.).
4. A hidden entrance to a tunnel.
5. Archaic Burned; scorched.
6. _Obs._ To scour or clean.
7. [Scots] Indifferent.
8. A mortician's assistant.
9. A natural well in a rock.
10. A crawling or limping gait.
11. Pollen collected by honey bees.
12. Automated Delivery US Trucking - [acronymn registered
as trademark]
13. A personal assistant to a landgrave or higher noble of
the Holy Roman Empire, entitled to add "von" to his surname.

I'm sure that you don't need me to send you to Wikipedia for a slightly
biased and not quite correct version of what they are. (they weren't
just for Catholics, others had need of such things at different times
and places)

Of course I looked it up after I voted.* I didn’t want to risk seeing Wikipedia send me to an “adust” page with “Priest’s hole redirects here”.



I won’t comment on whether it did or not.
