Does anyone know anything about her? I believe she is still alive. At
least I haven't seen anything about her death, but I admit I haven't
looked very hard. I suspect she is no longer writing. The supposedly
forthcoming next book is way overdue.

When someone with a Wikipedia page dies, someone usually updates that page within hours if not minutes. Hers, which you surely checked, just says "born 1940."

Is she still writing? Will she ever finish Cold as Ice? I dunno ...

So she is, at the very least, what some of us call "not young". My guess
is that she is no longer writing. I know nothing about writing, but she
may not be able to write. And possibly is not able to pass her character
along to another author.
