Happy New Year to you all

Here are 14 definitions brought to you by our esteemed panel of experts.
Now your job is to decide which is the definition that was submitted by
a dictionary.

It has taken a little longer to get these definition to you because you
wouldn't believe how much clearing up there is to do when more than a
hundred young adults have partied out the old year and partied in the
new. Two ageing sets of parents and one sibling from each side did make
it but then I had to drive home through bad sleety weather.... this is a
sort-of apology for lateness - I shall be a better lad in this new year

Vote for TWO definitions, as a public forum or group message (in reply
to this one), before the deadline..

8:00 pm on Tuesday, 03 Jan 2017 in the UK
3:00 pm on East Coast USA
12:00 pm on West Coast USA
early in the morning like 05:00 on 4 Jan in Oz and the surrounding lands

New Players are welcome, even if you didn't submit a definition you may
vote.

I'm going to guess that the "obvious" Indian connection (sounds like "sepoy," so it must be from there) is bogus, as is anything related to tea. I'll also eliminate a couple that I think I would have heard of if they were real. Having thus surely eliminated the right definition somewhere along the line, and still having more than two possibilities, I'll try 3 (which Dave C. thought can't possibly be correct) and the thus-far unloved 11.
