View Full Version : [Dixonary] Round 2764: FLASH KEN call for voting
Tim B
December 11th, 2016, 11:16 AM
Many apologies for the delay in posting the definitions; I'd planned to do this in the only gap in a
busy day, and then found we had no broadband. I hope I haven't lost any; there seem to be far fewer
than usual.
Please vote for TWO definitions, as a public forum message (in reply to this one), before the
deadline, which is 9 am GMT (0900 UTC) on Tuesday 13th December. That might well be 4 am in New
York, 1 am on the West Coast and so on.
New players are welcome, even if you didn't enter a definition this round. Don't look in a
dictionary. Full rules, if you're curious, can be seen at www.dixonary.net.
1: a rotating coat rack.
2: a house that harbours thieves.
3: [Sc.] a sudden idea, realization or understanding.
4: [Sc. colloq.] "Seriously!", "It's true!"
5: a slang term for a member of the paparazzi.
6: someone who uses the slang or cant of thieves and prostitutes.
7: an instrument for producing curves by a combination of circular movements.
8: a six-barrelled rocket mortar used by the German forces in the Second World War (1939-45).
9: [derog. sl.] a follower of Labour leader Ken Livingstone, especially one with anti-Semitic views.
10: a technique to remove small superficial tumors from the eye using short bursts of laser beams
at a tuned frequency (KEN = Keratectomy of Epithelial Neoplasms).
Best wishes,
Tim Bourne.

#6, on the grounds that it sounds less impossible than most of the others, and #10, because it's so obviously contrived that it can't possibly be right, so it probably is.

2 because it uses the British spelling of harbours and 4 because it’s so obviously false that it might be a double bluff. (And if it’s true, I’ll actually use the word in response.)

A thieves' house wouldn't have a coat rack because no-one would ever
have the nerve to use it and expect to ever see their coat again
