OIC. I was just wondering, Dan. Uh, maybe since Paul set up the list, he
could talk to them (Yahoo) and see if they've some kind of fixible glitch.

Sometimes these servers go temporarily weird. Last week and the week
before, a bunch of subscribers didn't get World Wide Words (no, nobody was
barring it with a spam filter; the nonreceivers were on all different
systems, in different countries). I was one of them. This week, all's well
again.

Go figure.

It's probably nothing related to our particular list. It probably has
to do with bandwidth limits between Yahoo servers and large email
providers such as msn, hotmail, and now gmail. With millions (maybe
billions) of emails being sent between those particular servers, some of
the bits are just going to get lost in the æther.

Several other yahoogroups to which I subscribe have switched to
googlegroups to avoid some of these problems. I'm not sure if that's
not just delaying the issue until Google groups become as popular as
yahoo's (which bought out some other mailing lists some time ago). And
googlegroups do not provide a file area like yahoo, a critical
requirement for this group in particular. (I do have
"dixonary (AT) googlegroups (DOT) com" reserved should we ever choose to go this
route. And I'm a co-group owner of "dixonary (AT) yahoogroups (DOT) co.uk" too!)

Other options would be having a mailing list on a smaller server, with
access to create our own associated website. I could probably get that
easily set up on a server hosted by a friend of mine; or we could
approach the tapcis.com folks to see if setting up a server directly on
that site is a possibility. (It'd probably reduce the missed messages
on the "mirror".)

Or, we can keep playing here, and put up with the occasional and
unpredictable email delivery delays and missed messages. Unlike the
last time, I don't plan on trying to broker the deal.

Well, it's defnintely gone weird on me. I'm posting from the web forum now instead of from my Yahoo acct to the cory list.

I sent this message from yahoo (along with my vote)
I think part of the problem is that when the message
is delayed, and I've read everything on the first page
of my mail, the delayed message goes in amongst the
read stuff, and it's on the next page, so I miss it
when I look the second time.

It happens to posting messages because there are so
many vote messages that come in soon after it's
posted, that they push it off
=======

I then got a bounce message from the Cory mailing list!!
We are unable to deliver the message from <tonicsavage@yahoo.com>
to <coryphaeus@yahoogroups.com>.

Your email account has been bouncing mails. This means that emails
sent to your account over several days have been returned to us.
This is sometimes because mail boxes are filled up, or because of
configuration problems. To reset your Yahoo! Groups account, please go
