View Full Version : [Dixonary] Dodi Schultz

Jim Hart
July 31st, 2016, 06:12 AM
As many here know, Dodi Schultz had surgery in late May. I understand
this was for a recurrence of a lesion on her lung which had originally
been treated many years previously. Unfortunately her recovery this time
did not proceed well.

A couple of days ago I received this note from Ed Schultz: "I'm so sorry
to report that Dodi's very brave fight to restore health has failed. She
is now in palliative care and little life is left."

He also added: "Since I do not know all the folks she's been in touch
with over the years, perhaps if you know of any you might share this sad
information." That obviously includes this dwindling band of
Dixonarians. I'm also aware that Dodi participated in other online
language-related groups, so I suggest that others here can use their own
judgement about possibly sharing this news elsewhere.

Me too. I've never met Dodi offline, but she's been a valued online friend for many years. I hope
she's in good palliative care; there are some excellent hospices around.

Best wishes,
Tim Bourne.

I am shocked at this news, and concerned for sure for Dodi.

This is so sad, but thanks, Jim, for passing it on.

Dodi and I met online through Word Reference Forum, where a few other Dixonarians also hang out. She invited me to join Dixonary. I never met her in person, but we had several pleasant e-mail conversations about all sorts of things. Most recently, this past March, she sent me (and a few others here) an image of a poster reading "GRAMMAR: the difference between knowing your shit and knowing you're shit."

I'll miss her.

Dodi was the player to whom i first reached out for advice on my first
deal. She was very gracious and friendly. I share the wish that her
palliative care be skillful and compassionate! Much love from a
challenging online friend.

Oh no!

Dodi is one of those I remember as a way-backer. I have no idea how early
she joined the game but it hard for me to recall a time when she wasn't
there.

This is sad news indeed.

I know Dodi was personally invested in many of us here. She maintained a phone list for us all and was one of the first to notice when people went missing for a while and would always make sure they were okay.

Is there anything we all can do to communicate to her, via Ed, how much we appreciate and miss her?
