View Full Version : [Dixonary] Round 2720 voting time: UGER

Efrem Mallach
June 25th, 2016, 08:03 PM
Fellow players,

Presented here for your consideration are 13 definitions of the word UGER, somewhere between a paucity and a plethora. One is its real meaning. The other 12 are clever attempts by your fellow players, who are otherwise for the most part decent people, to deceive you. They have been edited only for formatting consistency and are in order by character count, which may not correspond to visual length. Please vote for two that you like for any reason, such as but not necessarily because you think they might be correct, by public reply to this message.

1. [obs.] villainous.

2. an Asiatic wild ass.

3. energetic; youthful.

4. a blunder; a faux pas.

5. [obs.] a lock, as of wool.

6. to predict an outcome solely by emotion.

7. [colloq] a boring head for a tunneling machine.

8. the wild pig (Sus papuensis) of Papua New Guinea.

9. [Ugaritic] a merchant licensed to trade in the city.

10. an ancient Roman unit of area, equal to about 0.3 hectares or 0.7 acres.

11. (also _eiger_) [Ger.] a singularity, as in Kirchoff's Laws of Electricity.

12. a person who consistently refuses to pay his fair share of expenses; a freeloader.

13. a fat, short-legged pig, Sus scrofa, orig. feral, now registered as a domestic breed.

The voting deadline is 48 hours after the definition deadline, which was a few minutes ago: 9 pm on Monday, June 27, in North America EDT. I think that’s also...

… on the same date:
6 pm, U.S. PDT
8 pm, U.S. CDT

… on Tuesday, June 28:
2 am in the UK
3 am in continental Europe
11 am in Melbourne
1 pm in New Zealand

and so on. (If you're regularly in a time zone that isn’t listed, please let us know.)

New players are welcome to vote, even if you didn't submit a definition for this word - as are, of course, veteran players who didn't submit one.

Efrem
