1. a waiter [Webster] (Lodge) D1

2. An opening or cleft. [Madnick] (moot)

3. Disarmament and peaceful coexistence. [Abell] 8 9 (Hale) (Lodge)
(Shefler) 3

4. In India, an acolyte to an itinerant holy man [Lodge] *1 3 (Stevens)
2 +1 = 3

5. impossible mythical offspring of a cow and donkey [Madnick] 9 10
(Widdis) (Shefler) 2

6. [Tib. now officially obs.] The milk nurse of a child identified as
the Panchen Lama. [Barrs] DQ (Widdis) 1

7. A stew from Tamil Nadu, India, consisting primarily of lentils and
potatoes with spices. [Mallach] DQ 0

8. the sentencing of an entire family to permanent exile because of a
murder or other serious crime committed by one member of the family.
[Stevens] 4 10 (Naylor) (Abell) 2

9. A native of India employed as a soldier in the service of a European
power, esp. of Great Britain; an Oriental soldier isciplined in the
European manner. [Widdis] 5 6 (Madnick) (Naylor) (Hale) (Abell) 4!!

10. A group of brigands of the western states of India, composed of
horsemen from different tribes who congregated for the purpose of plunder.
They came into existence during the breakup of the Mughal Empire in the
18th century.[Naylor] 8 9 (Madnick) (Stevens) 2

(Hale) 3 9
(Shefler) 3 5 but he can have equal points for whatever def he thought was
close to his submission on request
(Bourne) 4 9
(Carson) no def received anywhere, and no votes - 1 point offered on behalf
of Yahoo Mail

Making Dan Widdis the next dealer with 4 natural points, and Tony Abell the
Winnah with 3 natural points. I hope I dealt fairly with the "extra def"
issue, and as usual, it is all my fault except for the mail issue.

Apologies for the delay - my wife seems to be having much-delayed problems
from her coral snake bite some years ago which might be destroying one
optic nerve :(.

Sorry to hear that. I hope there's something that can be done to solve the problems.

Dave

I am sorry about the coral-snake problems - I didn't know that it was
possible to survive a bite and certainly not that it could affect anyone
years later - I really hope and pray that the medics can do something to
alleviate both the pain the symptoms and the problem

Dave,

Sorry to hear about your wife. Hopefully things will go well. No worries about points. I mentioned it initially to see if the mail was acting up again and apparently it is. I'll just have to watch as carefully as I can.

Well -- after three melanoma bouts, the doctor first thought she might have
a brain melanoma - which would have been a heck of a lot worse. Vision has
gone to pot in one eye, and she is very photophobic now. What we hope is
that the other eye does not go.

If you're going to make me deal, at least you can give me the 5 votes I
earned. :-)

I see votes from Tim B for 4 and 9 that don't seem to have made the
results, giving myself and Tim L another point each.
