This is not an April Fools prank

Because of domestic problems I have been (and will be) unable to confirm
receiving any defs but at 2:15 pm in the UK; with about 8 hours to go I
have received 8 definitions from

TimB, ChrisC, DaveC, SteveG, KeithH, TimL, JudyM, DanW

If your name is not on that list and you have sent to me, then please

Maybe I set too short a deadline so I may have to extend it

You overestimate my understanding of all things GoogleGroups.

That's at least THREE of us who never got the original announcement: you, me, and Dick. Maybe others.

The reminder referred to the deadline as being X hours away, I think John said eight, and he said it was then 2:15 p.m. UK time, so I figured the deadline must have been around 5 p.m. your time and mine. It's now 5:04. So there's probably time to send a def, if you haven't done so.
