With a rousing chorus of "The Campbells Are Coming," I bring you 17 defs
for glaikit, one
of which came from a respectable dictionary. Vote for your 2 favorites no
later than
5 PM EDT, Wednesday, March 30.
1. [Scots] a roadside inn.
2. [Scot.] lame.
3. [Scots] gloomy.
4. [Scot.] ill-favoured, ugly, a gangrel; hence also an awkward and
ill-mannered person.
5. [Chiefly Scot.] foolish; giddy.
6. [Scots] covered with ice, frosted over.
7. an Irish bagpipe, also known as a "uilleann pipe".
8. a type of glazed kitchen pottery with a luminous milky finish,
originally produced in Scotland in the mid-19th C.
9. a Polish pork dumpling dish, traditionally served with tomato and
fennel sauce.
10. the base of a flying buttress.
11. a Russian manufacturer of precision camera and telescope lenses.
12. ancient syrupy medicine that is licked off a spoon.

Seems the server settings that have worked for the past few years have
suddenly decided to stop working.
I still don't recognize my own def!

Do you have an alter ego? You sent me a def on 3/27 in response to the message replacing gabion with glaikit. It is included in the list below. I would tell you which one, but maybe you should take that up with your evil twin.

The fact that I sent you a def (and even replied to this woid when you
posted it) doesn't change the fact that I don't recognize it! (And can't
find it in my sent items, and am missing the last 2 days of posts from
the list.)
I'm sure I'll get my server issues squared away soon.

memory failing me, I hope I don't vote for it.
