No, not at all. It's perfectly correct BrE, wherever that's spoken. AmE is
"first name". Like the difference between "colour" and "color" and where
full stops/periods are placed.

No literate people over here are smug. Don't get me started on *that*
stuff, which is an entirely different topic, upon which--both as a writer
and in my former role as CompuServe's grammar and usage maven--I've spewed
rants both publicly and privately.
