Fellow players,

The winner of Round 2662 was Joseph Wright’s 1898 English Dialect Dictionary. Six players divined that a quey is a heifer (definition 8), i.e., a cow of under three years of age who has not yet had a calf.

Sadly, Mr. Wright is no longer with us - he would have turned 160 a few weeks ago - so he can’t deal the next round. Among those who can, Dan Widdis earned five natural points with his #13, rock between two mountain walls (slightly paraphrased), and is the next dealer. Messrs. Carson, Shefler and Barrs share traditional “winnah” honors with 4, all three being among those who voted for the real definition. And a special shout-out to Judy Madnick, whose rough limestone (#6) was runner-up in terms of the number of votes it got.
