Here is a short list of 14 defs for flyting. One came from a dictionary.
Vote for the 2 likeliest candidates no later than 10 AM, EST, Thursday,
November 12.

1. metallic decoration or trim, as on a vase, goblet, or dinnerware.

2. the reinforced fabric surrounding the rotors of a hovercraft.

3. regularly spaced ridges or beading molded into a handle.

4. a freeman of the lowest class in Anglo-Saxon England.

5. grout, putty, or other filler used between a baseboard and wall.

6. (of the larger species of cats) a low snuffling sound analogous to
the purring of smaller cat species, often made as a greeting.

7. the use of personal or political pressure in an effort to persuade or
to gain support.

8. [Dan.] rapid, especially of time.

9. [dial.] chickadees named for their intermittent brief appearances.
[poss. comb. _flitting and fleeting_]

10. [Old Norse] a gathering-place.

11. a contest consisting of the exchange of insults, often conducted in
verse, between two parties.

12. a technique for maximizing the productivity of a resource by grouping
together tasks that make similar demands on the resource. Originally

I like #11 because it's a great idea for the next political debate, of which we've had too many, with many more to come, and they're getting duller and duller. And whoever went to the trouble of creating #12 deserves a vote. So:
