View Full Version : [Dixonary] New word for Round 2656

Dodi Schultz
November 1st, 2015, 11:52 AM
First of all: Congratulations, Johnny, on the D0!

This wasn't supposed to happen: I'm supposed to deal only every 30 rounds or so, not two rounds later. But I guess I saw it (maybe) coming (Mike and I were neck-and-neck for a while).

The word for the next round is:

                                            FEEST

If you already know what it means, please e-mail me instantly; if enough players know it, I'll choose a different word. Otherwise, please think up a likely definition and dispatch it to arrive in my mailbox no later than the deadline below. (Do NOT hit "Reply" to this announcement. That would display your effort publicly and subject you to snickers and make you the recipient of a cheap, tawdry "crown".)

Deadline for defs (a rather longish one to accommodate the dealer's schedule):

Tuesday 3 November, 8 a.m. EST, which is:

7 a.m. CST
5 a.m. PST
1 p.m. in England
2 p.m. in the Netherlands
Midnight in Melbourne
and 2 a.m. Wednesday in Wellington

I think I've got all the times right, but please advise if I've miscalculated.

—Dodi

I see two possibilities:

1. I don’t get the joke.

2. Dave is in line for a crown.

Which will it be? We’ll probably find out soon enough!

I'm assuming a NAD (even though Judy seems to have withheld the crown), especially since you sent a different def to me privately.

So, it really was a (n unlabeled) NAD?

Is there a precedent for uncrowning?

Well, there's the guillotine, but perhaps that's a bit harsh.

This wasn't supposed to happen: I'm supposed to deal only every 30 rounds or so, not two rounds later. But I guess I saw it (maybe) coming (Mike and I were neck-and-neck for a while).

The word for the next round is:

************************* ****************** FEEST

I suppose he (or she, for that matter, but I heard it with “he”) could have been German. I heard it with an engineer. (There were precious few female engineers in the 1790s, though there were lots of female Germans.) Works for both.
