Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And ended up right where I started. #8 please.
And #9 to reward whoever took the effort to get greek characters into
the etymology.

#9 is tempting … but, if this were the real definition, a dealer wouldn’t have included the Greek etymology because that makes it look less fake, hence more likely to get votes … but, knowing that, he would have included it to throw others off the track … and is “πλοκ” really Greek for “braid?” The mind boggles.
There are also a couple I think I recognize as real definitions of something else. They sound good, though.
Anyhow, my votes go to 5 and 7.

I'll try one unpopular and one popular, respectively:
1. a running track.
and
13. a figure by which the unpleasantness of a thing is wrapped round and
made to appear agreeable.
