3 and 8 seem unbelievable enough.

No sign of any rubble, so I'll take what seem like the nearest relatives -
2 and 12

#5 and #15 for me

Last time a throw-away vote for rubble got me two (surprising) points. No rubble this time, though I suppose def. 9 comes close. Besides, the same unwitting strategy (can it be a strategy if it’s unwitting?) is unlikely to work twice in a row.

I’ll try #2, on the grounds that the “woo” opening sounds vaguely Australian and lots of opals come from Australia, and #8, since Helio Courvoisier used to print stamps (a random odd fact; I’ll audition for Jeopardy! on Monday morning), and our dealer is into stamps, so he just might have come across this oddity.

I think I started to vote...but never finished. If this is a duplicate, please ignore it! I don't see it in Google Groups, so here I go!

I'll go with the toys and games, 7 and 15.

None of them are remotely believable. Pretty much at random, I'll try

5. a road in which devices for reducing or slowing the flow have been
installed.

and

12. fine metallic filings or shavings removed by a cutting tool.
