All of the submitters have voted, so I’m closing the round. The winner of
round 2642 is Tim Lodge, whose definition “A pattern of interlocking shapes
formerly used as a stereotype printing test piece.” earned a natural 7.

Dodi Schultz takes coveted second place with 6 points. Judy Madnick is
runner-up with 5 points.

The true definition was 1: “A cellulosic fabric made from fibres spun
directly from a solution of wood pulp; such fibres collectively. [Probably
< ancient Greek λύειν to loosen (see lysis n.) + -o- connective + cell- (in cellulose
n.)]” from the OED 3ed (September 2012). Two perceptive players guessed it.

To those who had trouble pasting definitions into their messages: I’m
sorry, but some word processors (such as Word 2012 and Outlook 2012) pick
up that you are entering a numbered list without being told. This is
normally what you want, because it takes care of consistent numbering and
hanging indents. It is quite hard to defeat, and also tedious, because a
small edit makes it come back.
