Dear People

I am sorry that I left things in such a mess

Firstly, a warning - most people are OK but I mistakenly upgraded to
Windows 10 and My machine is now utterly unusable, I cannot even restore
a backup. I say mistakenly because I tell Windows update to d/l updates
and install them at my request ... On Monday I said OK and left it while
we went out - it was a bank holiday here! When I came back it had
installed Windows 10 and all I had was a Desk top flashing about once a
second and no way of changing that and the circling "busy" cursor
wrt the game I cannot access the data so I was stuck - I am now
writing this on a very slow and unruly machine!

Secondly, first chemo took all day yesterday - about 10 hours instead
of about 4 hours because I began to react and they had to stop, give me
some anti whatever wait and start again. They didn't manage to get the
second chemical in yesterday so I now have to go in today (as planned)
and tomorrow (not planned). I actually feel fine so please do not worry

As I said, I am sorry... last time I looked there were 2 people with 6*
and me with a D4 or D5

Johnny,

What a nightmare! I hope everything will soon be corrected and you're back in "business"! Also, I'm glad to hear that you're feeling fine in spite of the chemo difficulties. I hope that today -- and tomorrow, the next day, the next day, etc. -- are better for you.

From what version of Windows did you upgrade? I have Windows 8.1 but have avoided the upgrade to Windows 10 until I feel fairly confident that there won't be problems.

Judy (one of the "people"!)

John,

I’m glad the major problem was with your computer and not you. I’m sure the chemo stuff will get straightened out in short order.

In the meantime, if you (or anyone else) “upgrades” to Windows 10 and changes his/her mind in the first 30 days, this video shows how to go back to Windows 7, 8, or 8.1:

http://www.cnet.com/videos/changed-your-mind-on-windows-10-heres-how-you-can-roll-back

I’m not sure it will help with your problem, since it presumes that you have a functional Windows 10 machine, but there it is in case anyone is interested.

All the best with today’s and tomorrow’s infusions. Don’t worry about the game. Daniel Widdis seems to have the scoring under control. Tim Lodge, one of those with 6* points and ahead on the rolling scores, has dealt Round 2639. If you missed his earlier message, the word is MINOVERY.

John,

Try this one little harmless thing. You probably already have a Microsoft
ID, and it is likely different than whatever User ID and password you were
using to sign onto your computer before the upgrade. Try signing in with
the Microsoft ID. It may have ported over all your old seetings already. If
not, it should give you the option to do that.

I'm sorry to hear about your computer and chemo woes, but glad that you're
feeling OK. I was bracing myself to phone you, and my over-active
imagination was half expecting worse news! As far as the game goes,
everything is under control, so join in again when you can.

Thanks - this little machine can't play videos so I sent your email to
my wife's machine and will look --- however, if it involves being able
to use the machine that was upgraded then it will not work - I left the
screen flashing every second for 26 hours to see if it was actually
doing the odd instruction between the flashes but could see no
difference after that time and I felt I had excercised my screen enough
so ...

I changed my settings before 10 was released so that it wouldn't upgrade
without my permission...and it hasn't. Most of the problems seem to be with
upgrades from versions earlier than 8.*. Sorry for your problem.
