Folks,

No family commitments to delay this, and no votes showed up in the 20 minutes or so since the official deadline.

Estro refers to a poet’s inspiration, the source of his or her verse: definition 3. I expected many players to note its similarity to definition 1, Paul Keating’s “inspiration [It.],” but only Dodi Schultz mentioned that. Her comment came too late in the voting to influence anyone else.

Much of the scoring replays my previous deal, round 2623. As in that round, Jim Hart jumped out to an early lead with "eastwards; (eccl.) facing the altar" (definition 7). Also as then, a few other words started moving up toward the end, but there were no serious challengers. He earns the next deal with 6 natural points. Oddly enough, also as in that round, Tim Lodge (shrubby coastal evergreens, def. 16) was second and is the traditional “winner.” He was followed by Shani Naylor and Tim Bourne with 3 each. Shani was also tied for third in that round, but then she was tied with someone else.

Well dealt with a praiseworthy D0, Efrem.

I did see this coming but nevertheless y'all will just have to wait until the (that is, my) morning for the new word.
