I was sure it was an "ait" as (looking up afterwards) several sources
confirmed - but I did not vote for it as I was a DQ for that def. Weird
word - I only found it now via Robert Macfarlane's "Landmarks".

I, too, looked it up after I voted, and the few sources in which I found it
appeared to confirm that def #4 (which I hadn't voted for) was indeed the
correct one. So have we, here, a word with two distinct meanings, each of
which is "real"?
