As I don't know what an ait is that hardly seems like a definition, but
defining one unknown word with another unknown deserves a vote for sheer
cheek. For my other vote I shall go for a definition of a word that
frequently does appear - viz; Obs.

so #3 and #15 for me

I think a short word should have a short definition, which doesn't narrow
it down much. Since it's three-letter word I'll take three and its square -
3 and 9.

(Plus an honourable mention for 15.)

Jim
(also with three letters)

May as well get this over with; can't see chances of zeroing in on the true
def improving as the day goes on. I think it might be an obscure adverb.
I'll go with a time and a place:

3. at an earlier date or time.

and

10. _Dial._ anywhere.

1 and 14, not for any discernable reason (other than that the idea of a handsome
moth goes beyond the boundaries of external credibility).
