View Full Version : [Dixonary] OT: Adobe Flash and Firefox

I went to the Adobe site today to update the Flash Player, which I'd
been nagged about for some time. Lo and Behold, but Firefox now gets
into the act wanting itself to be updated. And it appears to hijack you
and require that you update it first, then the Flash Player. Somehow I
got around this and got the Flash Player updated without updating
Firefox first.

Has anyone else seen this behavior?

I also needed Flash Player updated and downloaded it from the Adobe site (I
got no demand for updating from Firefox). Now I need to get it to install
itself. The Adobe site says it'll be in a folder called "Downloads", but I
can't find such a folder. Any ideas? Guerri? Anybody?

Your Downloads folder should be under "Favorites" along with Desktop and
Recent Places.

Dodi,

My downloads folder shows up in the 'favorites' group in File Explorer. You can also find it in C:\users\<your user name>. This assumes you are using Windows Vista or later. When you downloaded the file, you should have gotten an option to Save As which allows you to place it anywhere. On Win 8, you get a bar at the bottom of the screen asking if you want to run or save, you can also do a Save As from there.

I don't seem to have a "Favorites", but Never Mind (imagine the Gilda
Radner delivery). I came up with the brilliant idea of asking for it, and
there it was. I think I have now installed the new Flash Player. At least
so it informed me.

But thank you!
