The kind of egalitarian outlook one would expect from The Guardian. People have always tended to interface socially and verbally with others who speak the same language, and the amount of information/communication available worldwide has always reflected populations' size and sophistication.

Why be either surprised or dismayed that the Internet reflects these naturally-occurring differences?
