!!! I was dead certain that this went out at about 2AM! I'm sorry for
the delay! !!!
The waiting is over, i'm ready to reveal our list of player-concocted
definitions - and just for fun, i threw in one from an actual dictionary!
(There were zero DQs, bee-tee-dubbleyew.)

the public forum, before the deadline, which is 1PM (1300) on Friday, 25

Where I live, it won't be November 2015 for another seven months, and the
25th will fall on a Wednesday.
This Friday on my calendar is April 24th.
(My calendar says there will be a full moon on November 25. Perhaps that's
behind the confusion . . . )

I'm tempted to go with 7 and 14, which could easily have been combined, but I think it's a false flag, so I'll vote for 1 and 11.

Send in the clowns!
1 because we don't just want clowns, we want auguste clowns.
and
9, only for the brief add-on "Also, more generally: slang" after a
too-verbose definition.

Whatever day, hour or month the deadline is meant to be I'm getting in now
because extra time won't make the choice any easier.
If it's a plural I assume it doesn't exist in the singular so that got rid
of the goats and a few others. Then the trousers were out because I don't
trust their duplicity. Then I got rid of anything malevolent. The diseases
and suchlike were tempting. In the end I turned to the slang but only in
moderation, so it's the nautical bits and the food bits - 3 and 10

Absent any clues I can decipher, and having been burned by the "these two could have been combined, so one of them must be the real one" line of reasoning a few deals back, I'll go with mythology: 5 and 13.

Yes, i got the (very) wrong month, but today at 1PM Texas time was the
original right deadline. Dealah trivia, i went to the ER with my third
round of Shingles, but even though symptoms are worse than the first two
rounds combined --- those were very mild, and so this is only a little
bad. Hurts to blink, but only about a 4 out of ten. So i plan to sleep as
deep as possible to heal up, and avoid blinking. I will rise for meds at
around 4pm, so i may need to push the calculations to then. That's if i
don't wake sooner.
Thanks for patience!

I guess you never got the vaccine (Zostavax)? Or did it not work for you?

Dodi, the vaccine is only about 50% effective and the biggest advantage is that it reduces the severity of the symptoms. In addition, the protection wears off over time.
Keith, I hope you're feeling better fast! From your description, it seems that you developed shingles in your eye; is that correct? We have a friend who had that happen -- that has to be even more painful than shingles elsewhere. You can't stop blinking!

I never did get the Zostavax. Crazy expensive, a friend volunteeredtop ay
for it on the day of my 2nd round, but hasn't been able to make good yet.
Now i have to wait 6 more months to even try it. The county health on
which i rely just doesn't do the Zostavax at all. I could have - and
SHOULD have done without some non-essentials, but hindsight and all that
rot!
My symptoms present in my eyelid (and elsewhere) with a real fear of vision
impairment if it spreads to either eye!
Thanks for the concerns, and now back to the game at hand! [c9

Oooh, that's bad news. I knew it wasn't 100 percent effective (although the
data I have suggested closer to 70 percent), but I didn't know about its
wearing off. Any idea how long that takes? Zostavax wasn't approved for
general use till, I think, 2006, but I was part of that huge multi-year
national trial and got it back in 2000 or 2001. (The trial was
double-blind, but when the codes were broken it turned out I'd received the
real stuff.)

"Research suggests that the shingles vaccine is effective for at least six years, but may last longer" (from http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vpd-vac/shingles/vacc-need-know.htm). Merck's website (in its HIGHLIGHTS OF PRESCRIBING INFORMATION says "The duration of protection beyond 4 years after vaccination with ZOSTAVAX is unknown."

Yikes! Thanks, I think. I see that a discussion with my internist is in order.

....and you may find that his or her experience with patients will be more informative that the official "statistics." Then again, how does one determine effectiveness after X number of years? Perhaps blood testing?

For no reason, I'll try the clowns and the columns (I did read them all):
1> a troupe of auguste clowns.
and
2> figures of men or women, used in classical architecture as columns to
support an entablature.
—Dodi
P.S.: The number of participants seems to be declining rapidly. There are
actually 25 players on the current roster.

Thinking the figures might feature comfortable clothing, I'll take 2 and 7:
2>>Â*Â* figures of men or women, used in classical architecture as columns to support an entablature.
7>>Â* loose trousers.

I don't think I've ever seen a troupe of clowns with more than one auguste, so not #1.
Let's try 2 and 10, please.
And as before, I'm touring with only occasional internet access, so unlikely to be able to deal.
Best wishes,
Tim Bourne.
