Dodi is unable to connect to the Internet this morning. It's probably an area thing, as I have the same ISP, Verizon; and I can connect from my location across town from her.

Perhaps it is due to the bitter ten-degree weather we're having.

In any case, she asked me to notify the group the won't be able to participate until the problem is fixed.

We're breaking weather records here (southeastern Massachusetts) too. So far we've broken the all-time record for February snowfall. And the month isn't even half over; another foot or so is coming this weekend, and more in the middle of next week.

Will trade three well-worn snow shovels, what's left of a huge bag of ice melting stuff, and several pairs of warm boots for two one-way plane tickets to Florida or Arizona.

According to www.weather.com, Albany's current temperature is 3 degrees F., and with "wind chill" feels like...negative 17! Fortunately, the snowstorms that have hit southeastern Massachusetts (and surrounding areas) haven't resulted in the huge snowfalls that you have received. But it's been quite a winter!

Update: Dodi is back online!

After using the wonderful information from www.get2human.com* to maneuver
past the computer prompts and raise a human being at Verizon's internet
service number, and being transferred to the "technical department",
"Harry" in India (on a prior occasion, I'd had the pleasure of chatting
with folks in Canada and the Philippines), advised me that there was an
"area problem" that would likely be resolved within 24 hours. A call to
Dick established that the area didn't include his neighborhood.

In fact, the problem seems to have been resolved within just a few hours. I
hope the resolution doesn't turn out to be temporary (please cross your
fingers).

It's only the second time such a problem has occurred around here. Perhaps,
as Dick suggested, it has something to do with the bitter cold.

*Make a note of this. It's a wonderful resource any time you need to
contact a corporation. Of course you won't be able to reach the site if
being offline is your problem; you might want to print out the list, as I did.
