View Full Version : [Dixonary] Voting by Android?

I wasn't able to vote for Fers because I only had my Android (Droid 4)
phone with me and it didn't show a reply button on the Google Groups
message for voting. Has anyone else every experienced this and, if so, is
there a fix?

I have already been told by Verizon personnel that this is a "very old"
phone. (Said in tones that would wither a cactus at 20 feet.)

I'm writing this on my Android tablet, so - if you get it - it does work. There's no big red reply button at the head of the topic, as there is on my PC, but at the foot of every post there's a little reply arrow that takes you to the compose screen. I'm also logged in to Google - that might make a difference.

Although I don't use it with the email account I use for Dixonary, I have the
exact same phone. I am forced to agree with Verizon--it is very old. In fact,
it is barely usable (and I don't have a lot of apps on it, either). I think
the main problem is that after several Android OS updates, it simply doesn't
have enough memory to run both Android and a few applications (like email)
efficiently and without excessive swapping.

For example, using a browser is too painful to attempt anymore. It takes at
least a minute to start the browser and load any page, and that's with a fast
wifi connection. Oh, and the phone jack stopped working over a year ago.

Too bad it's the last phone with a really good physical keyboard. Those are
now extinct on Android phones AFAIK.

The keyboard is why I keep it. I've speeded up the browsing a bit by only using the google app for that. And shutting down all apps and pages I don't use. And being patient with the old girl.

Today I can reply on Google Groups with it also. Don't know what was wrong the other night.
