View Full Version : [Dixonary] Round 2576: VADIMONY

Daniel Widdis
January 17th, 2015, 07:18 PM
A long time ago in a galaxy far away...

The Rebel Alliance is rallying
strong against the forces of the
Empire. They have discovered the
meaning of a secret codeword used
by Darth Vader, namely: *** VADIMONY ***

This meaning must be carried to a secret outpost
across the galaxy. However, to disguise its meaning,
it is necessary to produce a list of convincing alternative
meanings, so that anyone who is captured with the missive
can plausibly deny knowledge of the word's actual meaning.
Your assistance in support of the rebellion is strongly desired.

Please submit a convincing fake meaning for VADIMONY to me,
to assist the Rebel Alliance. To preserve secrecy, it is imperative
you send such definition to me privately, at my email address widdis
(at) dixonary.net. To ensure proper classification of your message in
the appropriate channels, including the word VADIMONY and/or the number
2576 is imperative. Because the mission to the secret outpost is
launching in
about 30 hours, you must provide your fake definition prior to the
deadline of
Sunday, January 18, 2015 at 11:38 PM PST in Anaheim, CA. According to my
time
zone computer, corresponds to 0738 UTC Monday, January 19, 2015, and
elsewhere:
2:38 AM EST in New York
7:38 AM GMT in the United Kingdom
8:38 AM CET in The Netherlands
6:38 PM AEDT in Melbourne, Australia, and
8:38 PM NZDT in New Zealand

May the Force be with you.

I wish I could reply using Darth Vader's lunchbox - aka an 8-bit Kaypro
computer - but alas mine have all gone to recycling and anyway I'm not sure
if my ISP still has a dial-up service.

I should also confess I've never actually seen an entire Star Wars movie
all the way through. Nevertheless I'll endeavour to submit a definition by
conventional methods.

If my calculations are correct, as I write this Dan is running in the Star
Wars Half-Marathon at Disneyland. What I want to know is what costume he's
wearing: a Wookiee, a Starship Trooper, or something else? Photos are
needed!

I've found the 10K photos online - the half-marathon ones aren't up yet.
Congratulations to Dan and Jacqueline on finishing both races, even if they
weren't wearing Star Wars costumes!.

I'm tempted to submit a definition along the lines of "this is not the
definition you're looking for."

I have done one 80's themed half marathon in a Pac-Man costume. After that I've sworn off costumes for anything longer than a 5K.

Daughter-in-law did Dopey Challenge this year at WDW -- I think she will
swear off the next one.
