Hi Mike,

Since I'm quite sure that barmecide is not actually a word -you obviously
made this one up yourself!-, I'm not at all surprised to see a wide range of
defs that are all even more improbable than mine (as if that were possible).

Anyway, I'll give my points to these defs:

13. A moderate blue that is greener and duller than Dresden blue or
average copen, greener and paler than smalt or bluebird, and greener
and slightly duller than pompadour -- also called Barmeck's blue,
barmecite

16. Pontianac, a substitute for gutta-percha.

(But with a honorary mention for #8, #14 and #18 for making me laugh out
load)

Best, Hugo

2 and 18 as being basically the same -- you could have combined them ...

Popping in again.

My votes: #8 and #18

#8 because I believe that barmecide may be about an act of murder (CIDE) which involves air (BARometer), somehow. Maybe.

#18 Why? Because I like it. : )
Besides, I've seen deadly commercials.

of the worldwide family Barmeidae.

Thanks,

Chuck

I'll reward the authors of 2 and 7 for their brief but not entirely
implausible definitions.
