View Full Version : [Dixonary] OT: Firefox Version Update

I have sinned again, possibly in more than one way. Google has been
complaining that my version of Firefox is out of date. So I started
Firefox this morning, checked the Help and it told me I was running
24.0. There was a "check for updates" link and I thought it would check.
However, apparently what it does is based on a setting and instead, it
downloaded and installed a new version. It says the new version is
33.1.1, but the file names are 3.6. The file names for 24.0 are 2.0.

Does anyone else use version 33.1.1? Offhand I don't like the look and
feel, but when I say that you have to take into account the fact that I
liked the look and feel of DOS <g>.

I'll have to go to the Firefox web site and find out what's new in this
version (sigh).

I'm using Firefox 33.1...and when I checked the version, I saw that it's updating. Yup, I now have 33.1.1. I tend to try to just "go with the flow," so I have no comments at this time.

I'm still using Ff 17.0.1, despite multiple enthusiastic announcements from
Mozilla that later versions are available. It's working fine.

I'm like Judy. When I checked a minute ago I was on ver 33.1 and as I did
so it upgraded itself to 33.1.1. Yeah I go with the flow - the incremental
changes are minor but if you do a big version jump it probably looks a
little odd at first. Nothing like the shift from DOS though!

My personal upgrade is that I've just (literally minutes ago) signed up for
an iphone to replace my ancient little Nokia. I feel a bit disloyal
considering the old one is so small and robust. I may still hold on to it
for nostalgia.

I'm up to 33.1.1, as I always accept their update offer. However, the changes must be mostly behind the scenes, as I haven't noticed any great difference in look or operation.

I haven't noticed much either - now on 33.1, going to 33.1.1 later today - but that may be because I, like most other Firefox users, was previously on 32 and before that on 31. Had I gone straight from 24 to 33, as Guerri did, the differences might have been more noticeable.

It may be like the old story about putting frogs in water that way.

To Jim and others who have the later versions of Firefox: one thing I
notice that I consider an actual bug is this: I have, in Windows,
shortcuts to certain applications I use a lot. For example, Ctrl+Alt+W
takes me to my word processor. This doesn't work in Firefox 33.1.1. It
did work in earlier versions and it works in Thunderbird.
