Which is more fun - inventing a new definition or voting for someone
else's? No contest as far as I'm concerned.

Somewhere in the dictionary between tittynope and winklepicker, you'll find

* * * VENTOY * * *

Have fun creating a fake def, then email it to stamps (AT) salsgiver (DOT) com no
later than 9 AM EST, Monday, November 17.

A prize that comes with a kid's latte at Starbucks.

Is it because I never frequent Starbucks (I prefer good coffee) that I'm
still scratching my head over this one?

One of the SBUX drink sizes is a Venti (Italian for 20, for the 20 oz.)

Like I said, I laughed far more than I should...

Thanks Dan, that explains a lot. Mostly it explains why I don't go to
Starbucks: the idea of selling a 20 oz. cup of coffee (close enough to 600
ml in local currency) is vaguely obscene. Do they put 4 or 5 shots of
coffee in that or simply load it up with extra milk and weird flavouring?
I suspect Starbucks here may not go quite so large but I don't wish to find
out - I'm more piccolo than venti.

The standard Venti drinks have just two espresso shots, so the extra
volume is mostly milk. I typically get a triple shot, myself.

Interestingly, the cold drinks have a "venti" size which is 24 oz. Guess
they don't hold too fast to the literal translation.

Two shots in a pint of milk? I'd be swimming home. I'll have mine in a
small cup thanks. My only variation being I prefer low-fat milk but just
for better flavour not out of any dietary considerations.

It depends on what the Venti is. A venti latte consists of 2 shots of espresso and then steamed milk. The ‘drip’ drinks are just brewed coffee in the various sizes. Personally, I usually order a quad venti when I’m getting a latte or the like (4 shots) or when I need an eye opener, order a venti or grande black eye which is a cup of dark roast coffee with two shots of espresso added. They also have a red eye which is the cup of coffee with 1 shot of espresso.

Incidentally, New York was recently visited by a coffee expert from Italy who was in town to open a new coffee place. He pronounced Starbucks very good, which I found interesting since I know a lot of people who don’t care for the Starbucks flavor profile.
