I tend to have good luck when voting for definitions containing words I
don't know. Like blebbing.

And who doesn't like tiny bubbles in the wine?

That's 6 and 11 please.

Be careful voting -- if you typically do as I do and delete the definitions for which I've decided not to vote, the numbers change.

These are great definitions, and I'm having difficulty in eliminating any but my own!!

Going with words that are unfamiliar to me: # 6 (blebbing) and 11 (?e??)?

Hi Judy,

In my definition list, def number 11 uses Greek characters: Zeta -
Epsilon - Iota - Omega.
(I almost added how to pronounce this, but then realised that this
pronounciation guide would only work correct for people with Dutch
language background. I don't know how to present the proper
pronounciation with Latin characters to Anglosaxon audience)

Cheers,
Hugo -from the side line, yet another round

Yes, that was the intention. I merely described the Greek character I
saw, because your quote of the definition did not show them (it showed
three question marks and a letter e).

If there are others who don't see the Greek letters, my message can help
them to see the definitions the way they were intended.

I have no idea which of these definitions is correct or not, nor did I
have time to submit one of my own, or do I have time to think about the
presented definitions and vote. That's why I am sitting out the round.
But the Greek characters in the definition list caught my eye (because I
learned Greek in highschool), and then when I noticed that your message
did not present them properly I was afraid that people might not have
seen them.

Since I have no knowledge whatsoever of which def is correct, I think I
am allowed to post this to the list without invalidating the voting.
(And if I am wrong in that - then please accept my apologies for messing
up a round I don't even play in. I believe that would be a first in this
game)

Cheers,
Hugo -who still hopes to find enough time to take up playing more often
again

I think you're fine. I suspect on first reading, Judy thought you may
have been 11's author and describing it. But you were only explaining
what many of us could see.

Either way, we look forward to you returning when you can!

for my def for eucalegon I couldn't get them to show (TB and also
Firefox do not allow the symbol font which is where I usually find the
Greek character - in my "theological" environment I use them frequently
and I was really annoyed that I couldn't get them into that def... I
obviously have more work to do on this

I'll stay away from the medical and biological defs, and choose two which
aren't in either of those categories - 5 and 12, please.

5. having rigid and unyielding beliefs that persist even when proven false

12. the process through which sounds of a spoken language change over time

Johnny,

>>TB and also Firefox do not allow the symbol font

Don't use the symbol font. Very 90s. All modern browsers and email clients
are Unicode-aware. Just use Windows Character Map to select the Greek
letters in the font you are using. Any font that is widely used in Windows
(Arial, Georgia, Times New Roman, Consolas, Trebuchet MS) will have Greek
and Cyrillic as a minimum. Some, like Arial, even have Arabic and Hebrew.

I use Thunderbird. I viewed the message announcing the words, used View,
chose Message Body As and then Plain Text. I have my Tbird set to quote
back the original message, which was done in text only, rather than a
numbered list. That allowed me to delete the definitions other than the
ones I voted for.

Dodi, they show up in Gmail but not in my third-party email program. Either something happens "in transit"...or there's something about the symbols that my program doesn't like.

Judy, in my observation, all electronic devices and their software have
minds of their own (and are generally united in a conspiracy to befuddle
humans). I have no doubt that your program harbors some perverse hatred of
Greek letters.
