View Full Version : [Dixonary] Round 2528: TRIPOLI [Announcement]

Paul Keating
July 23rd, 2014, 04:19 PM
To avoid delays, I declare the word for round 2528 to be

* *******************
* * * T R I P O L I
* * *
********************

Capitalization is not significant. *To spell this out: the word is not a
proper noun.* So it *not* the name of the capital of Libya; the
second-largest city in Lebanon; or any of several other places of greater
or lesser extent or importance in North Africa, Ancient Greece, Phoenicia,
or the Ottoman Empire; *et cetera*. Toponymic *origins* of the word are,
however, not necessarily excluded.

Please concoct a fake definition for this word that you think your fellow
players will find plausible, or entertaining, or both.

Newcomers to the game are always welcome: your task is to induce the other
players to vote for your fake definition rather than the real one. You will
find the full rules at dixonary.net
<http://www.dixonary.net/game-rules-and-advice/rules> but they can be
summarized thus:

- Don't look the word up.
- Make up a fake definition and email it to me.
- Check back here after the deadline. Which is:

Thursday 24 July 2014 at

- 22:00 PDT
- 23:00 MDT
- 23:59 CDT

and on Friday 25 July 2014 at

- 01:00 EDT
- 05:00 UTC
- 06:00 BST
- 07:00 CEST for me, and
- 15:00 EST in Melbourne.

Please use the email address 2528.tripoli (AT) boargules (DOT) com to submit
definitions.

Or, as someone suggested privately after this went out, a very large bosom.
