Kindly vote for two hereof without referring to any dictionary before 9
p.m. EDT on Thursday 17 July. All errors are the fault of the dealer.

1. having a skin covered with scales.
2. An underarm growth.
3. hook-beak-shaped.
4. of a ribbon-like shape.
5. folded or creased at an angle.
6. Hornlike, especially in shape.
7. Having a branched structure.
8. Of a metal: that has had the mercury extracted.
9. Relating to or resembling a Buddhist cremation ritual.
10. a member of the family of plants related to the onion.
11. [Math] a beak-shaped interaction of two curves. [Gk ῥάμϕος (rhamphos)
= beak + oid]
12. any of a number of primitive organisms found growing in semi-darkness
on the underside of rocks and stones.
13. _Med._ homozygous for the presence or absence of the Rh factor.
14. (Med) Pertaining to the terminal bronchioles of the lungs.
15. A person of congenitally abnormal mind bordering on insanity or
degeneracy.
16. of a part of an organism: disappearing in the normal course of
development.
17. a three-dimensional shape with a rhomboidal cross-section and the
remaining two surfaces parallel. Often used of a tile or brick.
18. A kind of fever that is the final and invariably fatal stage of the
marthambles, a fictitious disease devised by one Dr Tufts (fl. 1675) to
frighten patients into paying for his useless nostrums.

No actual overt DQs!

Dave

If the etymology of 11 is to be believed, then 3 may be right. Or 6.

Well, 18 strums my nostril*, and i think most of us know just how
embarrassing that can be -- and 11 may just be the better part of similar.
11 & 18 for me.

(*since i was a precocious young satirical-rogue-in-training\wannabe: i
called the famous prediction addict "Nostril-damus". Now that i looked up
"nostrum" - it pleases me even more to amend that to "Nostrum-damus".)

I'll try the popular 3-6 combo: not because I necessarily believe either the "vox populi" or the "copy John Barrs" theories, but because they seem ever so slightly plausible than the others.
