Dang! This American, used to the weird way people usually tell time in these benighted colonies, read "1700" (which I readily admit is in no way ambiguous or even misleading) as "7 pm" and thought he still had over an hour. Oh, well. So it goes. Entirely my fault.

Anyhow, in the vain hope of salvaging something from this deal, I'll try the Haitian 2 and 9.

ancient 17 minerals and the game-staling 6.

Hi -- as usual, having no clue what it could be, I'll vote for:

3. disease of vines where they grow no fruit

18. the principal monetary unit in Mauritania, equivalent to 5 francs of
the West African Monetary Union; (also) a note or coin of this value.[the
ouguiya replaced the French franc in 1973, and was initially (1973-4)

It's either going to be long or short, so I'll try 1 and 18:

1. lead poisoning

18. the principal monetary unit in Mauritania, equivalent to 5 francs of
the West African Monetary Union; (also) a note or coin of this value.[the
ouguiya replaced the French franc in 1973, and was initially (1973-4)
divided into 5 khoum]

My guesses are numbers 2 and 18.

2. _ Haitian Creole_ malevolence; evil

18. the principal monetary unit in Mauritania, equivalent to 5 francs of
the West African Monetary Union; (also) a note or coin of this value.[the
ouguiya replaced the French franc in 1973, and was initially (1973-4) divided

Since I haven't the remotest notion what this might mean, I'll just pick
two that nobody else seems to want:

5. [Kumeyaay] a normally dry watercourse; arroy

and

10. the negotiated price for the sale of a herd of cattle. [Taureg]
