Here are 18 definitions, only one of which is real. Vote for TWO
definitions, as a public forum message (in reply to this one), before
the deadline, which is Monday, March 17 at

4:30 p.m. EDT
1:30 p.m. PDT
8:30 p.m. GMT
9:30 p.m. CET

and 7:30 a.m. on the 18th in Melbourne.

New players are welcome, even if you didn't enter a definition this
round. Don't look in a dictionary. Full rules, if you're curious, are

1: _Jap._ lacquerware

2: a spicy Russian stew.

3: An 18th century carriage.

4: aromatic root resembling ginger

5: A light four-wheeled open carriage.

8: The Japanese custom of escalating gift giving.

9: skin jacket with the hair turned to the inside.

10: a bamboo whisk used in Japanese tea ceremonies.

11: An argument that wins despite logical fallacies.

12: An informal Japanese robe, shorter than a kimono.

13: [in Japan] death caused by overwork or job-related exhaustion.

14: a West African cattle-hide drum, orig. assoc. with the Taureg tribe.

15: seaweed processed into a paper-like material used to wrap sushi rolls.

without please; the self inflicted kamikaze #13 and the rice #17 please

I won't vote for 13 because it's popular, but I'll vote for it because it seems plausible. My other vote goes to #2, to hedge my bets in case it's not Japanese.
