<< I have no idea why Mike's
<< original posting of the word didn't make it through the mail chain, but I
<< notice that the result message contains hyperlinks. Could that be giving
<< some mail programs a problem? Some security filters can be set to block
<< messages with hyperlinks as well as messages that contain ActiveX or
<< Javascript items.

I don't know if this is meaningful, but I just went to the Yahoo! Groups site, copied John's message, pasted it into a new email message using my email program, and sent it to myself. It arrived just fine, hyperlinks and all.

I just went back and re-read the message I was responding to, Judy, and I
realized that when you said "it" had arrived you weren't referring to
Johnny's posted message. I'd thought you were. Sorry for adding to the
confusion!

It can't be hyperlinks that cause the problem, every last message from the yahoo server contains hyperlinks at the bottom

I have found that ISP's keep messing around with things. As an example, I am in 'negotiation' with my own ISP which has just (a
fortnight ago) changed access to 'homepages' so that you need a secret code which they only supply to their own ftp uploader
software thus I can't use what I was using!

Very many ISP's will no longer accept exe files, rar files etc ect. Gmail won't even accept these files inside a zip... My point is
that people are constatntly changing things, often paternalistically to protect the user, but also, often without informing the
user.

Good point on the hyperlinks. I think if this is ever hashed out, we'll
find that it is some obscure security setting that is causing the problem.
Unfortunately, the circumstances make it very difficult to track since it
doesn't seem to be consistant except to the point that it's only Mike's
messages (I think) that are affected. Of course, his were most apparent
since the ones that were dropped were the new word announcement and the
results. I guess us email players will have to be more watchful for a
while.

Another theory shot to Hell. Johnny already pointed out that all of the
messages from Yahoo Groups contain links anyway.

No, not for me.

Okay -- but if you've done it already, I haven't received it.

The only thing I can add extra is

One of Mike's links does a '404 page not found' inside its primary site

But.... Aren't we all missing part of the point...

1. As far as I can see, mike's 'original' message never got to yahoo so no-one who relies on yahoo mailing got it

2. Then I posted it to yahoo (ie sent to the group) and I cannot make head nor tail of who got it after that from yahoo _ I know I
did and Dodi did but who else - or more precisely who didn't get *my* posting of mike's results who would have expected it.

3. And, I can't work out whether my posting of mike's results made it back to Tapcis (this is probably ignorance on my part, but I
can't work out how threading works given 6 messages with the same subject which seem to me to appear as separate threads) - The only
thing I can see that may cast light on it (or darkness) is that the only posts I can see which are not from 'guest' are Mike's and
Guerri's

It seems to me that there are two problems here and I think we need to try and separate them out

A) interconnections between yahoo and tapcis - what gets to yahoo from tap and what doesn't (and vice versa)

B) people not receiving mail from Yahoo

Confused of little britain (JohnnyB [using email; via corypaheus/yahoogroups])

PS. Finally, I apologise for a 'link' under the first word in my posting of the results: I didn't realise that 'back-slash
back-slash word' would create an underlined link

I wasn't aware that B was a problem. I, at least, have received
everything that anyone has on the mailing list.

A is definitely a problem. It appears that there is a spam filter
operating on the domain tapcis.com, and it affects both mail coming
into the domain AND mail sent from the server hosting it. Spam
filters are notoriously fickle, which is why some content or links
will trigger filtering and others don't.

I don't know who is hosting tapcis.com, but if there's no way to shut
off the spam filter, the forum needs to find a new host. It's
unacceptable.

I don't know if you saw my message about the experiments I ran, but in
my case, and although Judy denies it, in hers too, the links are indeed
what caused Johnny's "results" posting not to be delivered from the
Yahoo group to our Email. The problem must be on the receiving end and
my provider and also Judy's are somehow filtering out that message and
refusing to deliver it. Other people got the message just fine.

It is apparently only some links that cause trouble, because the ones
Yahoo automatically inserts work fine.

Judy, I believe you are wrong about the links. They *are* a problem for
you because I forwarded Johnny B's results message to you twice: once
with Mike's links in it, and once without. You sent me an Email
confirming that the one without the links arrived. The one *with* the
links did not arrive.

Now, I suppose that my deletion of those links could have somehow
deleted some little hidden thingy that is the real problem, but I
strongly believe there is something about Mike's links that causes our
Email providers to reject the message.

Guerri'sI tried sifting through the threads in tapcis.com and could not find your repost of the round's results, either manually or using the search feature. So I believe that it didn't get sent into the tapcis.com parlor, probably for the same reason that it got rejected by my tapcis.com Email.

The problem with the threads here in tapcis.com is that some Email clients, such as TAPCIS, don't preserve threading information. This results in new threads being created with exactly the same subject, which in turn makes it very hard to look for certain messages.
