(honourable mention to #6 for using "batman", because - if you can be
batman, always be batman. Also brave, because Batman may not like his name
being used in vain, and he's, you know, fit and such.)

Dodi, the vaccine isn't effective 100% of the time, but for those who develop shingles in spite of the vaccine, the vaccine generally reduces the severity and duration of shingles.

real Zostavax.)

We have to get our flu shots -- thanks for the reminder. Immediately after I had the shingles vaccine, my blood pressure went up 20 points and has stayed there. I called Merck to find out whether there had been other similar complaints. Of course not. I guess I'll ever know (unless there are additional reports), and I just hope that my new Albany doctors feel that my current level is okay. Fortunately, I started out with low-to-normal blood pressure, but...

For the want of $250 for the vaccine - i was trying to save up for it - i
didn't get it. I'm on the county medical, and they cover most stuff, but
this painful rash that may be threatening my one good eye wasn't a priority
for them to cover. All that said, i wish i had sold my PC or car or
something. The good news - i hope - is that i caught the symptoms very
early! *Sorry to indulge in that soap opera i always called "All My
Symptoms". * I'm a little terrified of the prospect of SEVERELY limited
vision, but i'm also aware that the odds aren't that "great" and i should
relax. \C8

*Anyone in a Civilised Nation (with Universal Healthcare) want to adopt an
ambulating pile of maladies? I'm mostly kidding about this. heh.*

$250! OMG. That's really pricey for a shot in the arm. I actually don't
know what they're charging here for Zostavax. Being in the trial, of course
I got it for nothing, and part of the deal was that if it turned out, when
they broke the code, that I'd received a fake shot, then they'd provide a
free shot of the real stuff.

My shingles broke out the morning my wife and I were flying out of Frankfurt
back to the States. My dear wife was petrified that it was flesh-eating
bacteria and I should go immediately to the hospital. "No," I said, I'm
getting on that plane back to the States.

As soon as we landed at Chicago O'Hare, I headed to the very good clinic the
University of Illinois maintains there and the doctor said, "Oh, that's just
shingles."

Moral of the story: Be glad it isn't flesh-eating bacteria.

I know. It still hurts. Hang in there.

For the want of $250 for the vaccine - i was trying to save up for it - i
didn't get it. I'm on the county medical, and they cover most stuff, but
this painful rash that may be threatening my one good eye wasn't a priority
for them to cover. All that said, i wish i had sold my PC or car or
something. The good news - i hope - is that i caught the symptoms very
early! Sorry to indulge in that soap opera i always called "All My
Symptoms". I'm a little terrified of the prospect of SEVERELY limited
vision, but i'm also aware that the odds aren't that "great" and i should
relax. \C8

I know (no vaccine is), but it's pretty close. (REAL close, I hope. I was
in the original national double-blind trial and, it turned out, got the
real Zostavax.)

I'm a devout vaccine believer. Got my flu shot Tuesday . . .

My votes go to 4 and 11 this time.
Thanks.

4. official or legal acknowledgement of a mistake
11. an innocent person set up to take the blame for an illegal act; a scapegoat

Best wishes

you email arrived just as I pressed the 'send' for the results posting - it
would not have affected the result as to winners and next dealer

Thanks - I saw that arrival time was a non-issue since my guesses were both wrong.

Had I started earlier and devoted more time to choosing my votes, I'm sure I still would have missed the berry!
