Here are 17 definitions for XYSTUS. Please vote for two of them by public reply to this message. The voting deadline is Sunday, October 6, at 8 p.m. I will take responsibility for any misspellings...and I'll let you take responsibility for not looking up the definition!
1. (linguistics) omission at the beginning of a word as in 'coon' for 'raccoon' or 'till' for 'until'

2. a buskin worn by actors of classical tragedy

3. a slender archaeological trowel, having a leaf-shaped blade at one end and a rectangular blade at the other

4. _Rhetoric_ a figure by which a word is repeated with vehemence or emphasis

5. a stack of wooden poles

6. the priests' entrance in an ancient Greek temple

7. an outlier in a set of observations (Stat.)
