View Full Version : [Dixonary] Round 2401: zugunruhe - Progress Report

Interesting so far. I have 10 definitions with and a 'maybe' DQ so I'll
declare 'zugunruhe' officially in play. The defs were received, from the
following players:

Barrs, Boswell, Bourne, Cunningham, Hart, Kornelis, Lodge, Madnick,
Shefler and Stevens.

Millie may have qualified for a medal for the most elaborate Dixon in
memory so the keeper of the crowns should send her something appropriately
special.

The word, in case you missed the initial posting, is ZUGUNRUHE. You still
have 21 hours to submit your fake definitions for this word, (which you
should of course send me by _email_). The deadline for definitions is

Sunday, April 28, 2013 8:00 AM EDT.

It just struck me that the parenthetical admonition above is a now-obsolete
leftover from the days when this game was played in a forum. Most of us use
e-mail to play the game at all stages: we learned the word by e-mail, we
received Chris's reminder by e-mail, we'll get the defs list by e-mail, and
we'll vote by e-mail. This message is an e-mail. And I'll be sending my def
to Chris by e-mail, but to a different address from the one to which /this/
message is going.

Perhaps, to avoid confusion (especially among newer and future members of
the group), "send me by e-mail" should be tossed in favor of "send to my
personal e-mail address".

You're probably right that the majority play by email, but a few of us
play by visiting the Google Group on the Web. I can assure you -
because I have recent personal experience - that it's still perfectly
possible to commit a Dixon (sorry, Steve) and post your carefully-
crafted def in public!

Oh, sure, Tim. And it's still a concern if the dealer simply says "send by
e-mail", because that doesn't do it for those who do play by e-mail. The
dealer needs to add "to my personal address"—and (belt-&-suspenders
approach) probably "do NOT hit Reply". I'm sending this message via e-mail,
by simply hitting Reply; it's going to the whole group.

And just what are we supposed to do with the excess crowns in the inventory, if every dealer did that?

Stash them in the Dungeon, of course, for some future archaeverbologist to
find! (Sorry, relatively recent joiners; that's an obscure last-century
