I didn't believe any of them on my first read through, but I'll settle
for 2 and 3 as being faintly believable:

> *2. the segment of an RNA molecule excised during or soon after its
> transcription from DNA, which takes no part in forming the eventual gene
>
> *3. among a number of variables in a statistical calculation, the one that
> accounts for the greatest amount of variation

Nice selection. I'll go with -

3. among a number of variables in a statistical calculation, the one
that accounts for the greatest amount of variation

and

19. a variable capacitor (Elec.)

Thanks,

I'm eliminating all the technical and statistical defs as being too
neologistic for our dealer who I think (read hope) prefers more obscure
etymologies. Reluctantly that also includes some more, um, obscure
technology such as the calliope thing, the elastrator thing, the mapmaker
thing.

That doesn't leave much, so I'm putting my votes on the two obscure
professions - the ecclesiastical newsreader and Columbo-in-a-toga - 1 and 14

Jim
