Happy New Year's Day to one and all -- whether you are enjoying it today or
already had yours on the other side of the Date Line.
Weren't those TV views of the festivities all around the world absolutely
spectacular? Here in New York, our TV coverage is, naturally more extensive,
and I think this year's celebration was more impressive than ever -- some
one million people pressed into the Times Square area, the awesome lighting
effects displayed by the crystal ball, 20 tons of large confetti, and a
host of big-name entertainers performing on a stage in the Square area with
lots of special effects. Wow!
With a hiatus for the holiday day in the middle of this Round, there is now
about 24 hours until the deadline for fake definitions. So far, my records
show receipt of defs from Madnick, Carson, Morgan, Graham, Grieco,
Mallach, Barrs, Stevens, Boswell, Hale, Emery, Shepherdson, Shefler, and Lodge.
If you sent one and your name isn't above, please resend; and if you
haven't yet sent your in, please do so in time to reach me before 10:00 AM
tomorrow, Eastern Time.
