I can't resists #9 even though I think it has nothing to do with beards.
I'll take #2 to go with that.

I'm going to just get this over with:

By the hair of my chinny-chin chin, I'll take 9 and 12

9: [Eire] a sort of lute with strings of twisted hair, now usually

After narrowing it down by eliminating beards and castles (too obvious), I'll take 2 and 11.

Where is the saponaceous tree? <gdr>

I like the idea of sympathetic strings although I can't see how they would
work on a bowed instrument and I suppose I'll avoid the castles and beards
so rank medieval women is my other choice

#11 and #13 please

One long one, one short one:

9 and 11 -- and I imaging an instrument made from plucked beards would have
unsympathetic strings?

Millie -

These seem an adequate challenge. I'll go for -

3: a spar that extends the bowsprit

and

11: A bowed string instrument of the 18th century, similar to the bass
viol, but having sympathetic strings on the rear of the fingerboard

Thanks,

Chuck

Making a nod to the attire, I'll have 2 and 13, please:

Well, no use sitting around waiting for some brilliant insight. Ain't
happening. I'll wildly guess at:

and

19: a drug addict
