View Full Version : [Dixonary] Round 2353: NEW WORD

Sorry for the delay; busy day. AND a recurrence of a local (Verizon) server
problem that first occurred during last week's hurricane (a connection that
slowed to the point where it timed out before mail could get in or out). It
WAS Verizon's server, not me; they confirmed that last week. (The message
below was all ready to go at 7:30 p.m. my time. It's now 4+ hours later.)
Whether it's a new meteorological disturbance or the lines being flooded by
last-minute election pleas, I don't know. (Or, actually, care.) It's been
very annoying. Grrrr.

The word for Round 2353 is:

*G O O Z L U M*

Don't look up the word.

Please create a convincing "definition" and see that it reaches me no later
than Wednesday, 7 November, 9 a.m. my time (that's EST). That should be
[pause to double-check the world clock] the usual differentials to the west
of us; 2 p.m. in England; 3 p.m. for Paul and Hugo (are you guys still with
us?); and 1 a.m. Thursday for Melbourne.

If you recognize the word, though, don't wait for the deadline; please
notify me instantly. Too many such, and I'll choose a different word.

Either of the above communications should be a new message sent to my
personal address. Do NOT simply hit "Reply" to this announcement.

Looking forward to hearing from all of you!

Chuck, mine was in reply to Dodi's posting of the new word which was about
6 hours earlier than mine. I trust you have seen that by now, but if not
the word is GOOZLUM and the deadline is Wednesday 9am EST.

I've never had trouble in the past, but I've not seen the new word announcement yet either.

Best wishes,
Tim Bourne.

Strange things are happening, it would seem.

Like Jim, I also did receive Dodi's new posting ... about 18 hours ago.
And I see it also appeared on our Google Group site at about the same time.

But clearly some of the emails are not getting through.
Post-Sandy syndrome?
Or as Dodi suggested ... maybe electoral overload :)

Hm. The two reports of non-receipt have been from Canada and England!
