I don't know why I try to analyze the submissions with the assumption that I may actually be able to determine the "real" definition. I should just throw darts at my computer -- well, maybe not darts, but any guess would be better than my analysis.
<sigh> So now I've narrowed it down to three definitions, and I'll bet the one I omit is the "real" definition.

I will reward the author of the following definitions with a point each:

14. of a women's garment trimmed with a ruffle or pleat of lace, muslin, or other fine fabric

16. a technique of "weathering" building material, especially brick, so as to create an appearance of age; brick so treated

I'll fall for the women's garments:

Having no clue, I'll roll my 18-sided dice.

Dan rolls 2d18: 11 6

6. French baroque dance with quick rhythm

11. a person who temporarily fills, holds or occupies a position that has
been vacant

I'm totally stumped. But since I don't expect any sudden revelation during
the next 23.75 hours, I figure I may as well go ahead and make a couple of
wild guesses.

To wit:

> 1. a blindfold

and

> 7. (of paper) having torn edges; untrimmed
