The word for round 2346 is, with no implied capitalization:

********************
BOTTOMRY
********************

Please e-mail your definitions to emallach (AT) verizon (DOT) net, not to the group (i.e., do not Reply to this message, and please confirm before sending that your message is not addressed or cc'd to dixonary (AT) googlegroups (DOT) com) by noon EDT on Monday, October 16. That's 9 am Pacific time, 5 pm UK time, 6 pm in continental Europe. Those who live somewhere else have to figure the deadline out on their own, but I think they know how.

If you know what this word means, please e-mail me to that effect. I'll pick another word if too many players know this one.

Efrem - to me your message for round 2346 appears to be appended to those
from a much earlier round. Others may not see it this way, but probably a
good idea to start a new message at times like this.

Did you mean Monday, which is October 15 or did you mean October 16,
which is Tuesday?

It came through fine here, but I see that at GoogleGroups, there's no new
thread for it. That site is totally unpredictable, isn't it!

I'm re-sending the word (a) because to some people, especially those who access their Dixonary messages via Google, the first message got mixed in with a thread from an earlier round; and (b) to correct the date.

The date is an error, as one player pointed out. October 16 is a Tuesday this year. The correct date is Monday, October 15. (It may be early Tuesday morning in Melbourne, but that's a side comment, not an official deadline.) Since the deadline is still over 24 hours off, wherever one is, there seems to be no need to extend it because of this error.

So far I've received definitions from Barrs (besides his NAD to the group), Bourne, Cunningham, Hale, Lodge, Stevens and Widdis. Please re-send any I may have missed. Either the address in the above message or the sender address in this message, emallach (AT) umassd (DOT) edu, will work. It makes no difference. Just don't send them to the group.

No, it's very predictable. If you reply to a current thread, even if you
change the subject line, it stays in the same thread (and changes the
entire thread subject line).

Wrong, but predictably so.

(This was in fact one of the very small number of examples in which I said
playing at tapcis.com was superior to playing on the google groups site.)

Effrem,

Unfortunately you re-sent by simply replying to the previous message, which
did nothing to change the "threading" issue which caused the first error.

Because of a design choice by Google Groups, replies to previous threads are
kept with those threads.

When posting a new round, or posting for votes, you should always begin a
new thread, and not reply to an old one.

But I did begin a new thread. Totally. With no replying, forwarding, or anything else to any earlier one.
