In his vote message, John Barrs commented, "Now that is interesting; that
no-one thought it might be a verb." In fact, SCROOP, a combination of
"scrape" and "whoop" which is apparently imitative of those sounds, can be
either a noun or a verb. I had originally chosen one of the verb
definitions, "To emit a harsh, grating sound," but when all the decoys
arrived as nouns I figured it would stand out like a sore thumb and switched
to a dictionary offering a noun instead, "The crisp rustle of silk or a
similar fabric." Not sure whether it helped or not; I still got a D3.

In round 2342, 3 players earned top spot with 5 points: they were Chris
Carson, Tim Lodge and Mike Shefler. By virtue of his lead in the rolling
scores, Tim Lodge's definition "The liquid used in the liming stage of the
leather tanning process; also called _milk of lime_" earned its author the
deal, and the others can heave a sigh of relief that their defs did not earn
one more vote.
