Here are 21 wonderful definitions of crang, only one of which is real.
Vote for your two most likely guesses no later than 10 AM EDT, Thursday,
August 30.

1. to twist a joint, causing pain.

2. the strident call of a crane or goose.

3. the triangular end of a jib, Genoa, or spinnaker sail.

4. a rope running from one of the lower corners of a square-rigged sail
through a block on the spar below it and thence to a belaying pin
near the deck.

5. a minor coin of Persia ca. 1924 - 1939. (also _Krang_)

6. the Laotian unit of currency between 1890 and 1948.

7. a small weir or dam in a river to direct the stream to gaps where
fish traps are placed.

8. _Obs._ a kind of padlock.

9. the handle end of a rat-tail file.

10. to conquer or subdue.

12. the carcass of a whale after the blubber has been removed.
