If you want to try Linux, Ubuntu is probably the most user-friendly
"crossover" distribution. I use a server version of it regularly. I like
how they name successive versions. My server version is still 10.04
(Lucid Lynx) but since then they've moved on to Maverick Meerkat, Natty
Narwhal, Oneiric Ocelot, and Precise Pangolin. I'm sure fans are looking
forward to the release of Quantal Quetzal this fall.

If you don't want to try Linux, Ubuntu is an African ethic or humanist
philosophy focusing on people's allegiances and relations with each other,
for which the Linux distribution was named, although I can't speak to
their inspiration for naming versions.

Fascinating! Thanks, Dan.
