Hmmm ... as someone said very recently ...
"2nd try".

The replacement word for Round 2318 is

** POETASTER **

If you know the word, let me know as soon as possible by email.
If too many people know it
.... well, I'll deal with it.
Again.

Please email your fictionary definitions to me at milliemmorgan (AT) gmail (DOT) com
before the deadline:

6:00am Fri 6/7 Melbourne
1:00pm Thu 5/7 PDT
3:00pm Thu 5/7 CDT
4:00pm Thu 5/7 EDT
9:00pm Thu 5/7 BST
10:00pm Thu 5/7 CEST

Full rules can still be found at
http://www.dixonary.net

Best wishes
Millie

An terrible poem.

(NAD)

Too bad nachschlag didn't work out. I liked it for its obvious German
roots. My knowledge of the two German words that were combined (nach =
after; schlag = shock, blow, stroke, beat, ...) might have helped me
zoom in on the correct definition - though I suspect that my definition
(which described the aftershock after an earthquake) would not have been
the only one to use the German etymology, so I might still have picked
the wrong one.

Now I need to come up with another definition. Where is that inspiration
when I need it?

Cheers,
Hugo

Good one!

Two copies arrived, since it was sent "To: dixonary" with "Cc: Dixonary".
Thus, it arrived at the site twice and was relayed twice.

One who has sampled just a wee bit of Edgar Allan's work. [See also:

Good morning everyone.

But no, it isn't really a good morning at all ...I had a bad dream last
night.
I dreamed I had a long list of DQs for POETASTER.
And I've just found it's true!

I'm so sorry ... really making a mess of this Round.
I'll try to post off a new new new word before I leave for work.

Aaarrggghh!! Why did you have to post this just AFTER I finally wrote up
a "real" fake def?
(Not that it was a good one, but still...)

(goes to check the interwebs for the true meaning of the word)

(laughs at realizing how close my NAD was to the real def)

Cheers,
Hugo

If it is any consolation, it was my very first DQ ever!

Not to worry, Millie. I don't recall the record for consecutive DQed words but I don't think you're close yet.
